As you will understand, patients with appointments will get priority, except in emergency situations. If you foresee your problem requiring more complex care, or a longer time, please inform the reception staff so that a “long” (or double appointment) consultation can be booked.

Patients who present without an appointment, will be seen in accordance with practice protocol.

Due to rising practice costs, consultations at the Capalaba Medical Centre are no longer routinely bulk-billed to Medicare. A private, out of pocket fee, is applied to most consultations.

Usually children under 16 years of age and entitled Veterans patients are bulk-billed.

All patients who require immediate attention are always seen. These necessary ‘Fit-ins’ are presently only Bulk-billed if under the age of 16 or upon presentation of a current Australian Veteran’s Card.
After 6.00pm
Apart from Australian Veteran Card Holders, any patient presenting after 6.00pm Monday to Thursday, 5.00pm Friday and after 12.00pm Saturday and Sunday, without an appointment, will not be Bulk-Billed and fees are applicable. Please enquire upon presentation.
Home Visits
Most doctors are available for home visits to current patients of the practice living in the Capalaba area. Please enquire about prices, as each Doctor has their own pricing structure.

About Capalaba Medical Centre
HISTORY 1975 to Present

History
The Capalaba Medical Centre (CMC) was first established in 1975 by Dr Michael Petrohilos. The original surgery was located at 86a Old Cleveland Road, Capalaba. A branch surgery was opened in the Capalaba Central Shopping Centre in 1994, which allowed the expansion of General Practice services to the Redlands area.
After remaining in the original location for nearly twenty years, an opportunity arose to move the founding practice to larger premises in 1998. The new site was 189 Old Cleveland Rd, Capalaba. where it remains today. At this new site the two surgeries were eventually merged to a large modern medical centre, co-located with pathology, radiology and other allied health professionals. Over the last decade, the Capalaba Medical Centre expanded now to its present size, with nineteen general practice consulting rooms, three modern procedure rooms, and other specialised rooms.
Present Day
The Capalaba Medical Centre is a large, friendly, family-orientated practice accredited with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. It is now part of the Bayside Medical Precinct.
The staff of the practice have a commitment to providing a high standard of General Practice services, and to continuing medical education.
All patient consultations and medical records are kept strictly confidential. We uphold the code of ethics outlined by the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and a copy of this code is available for your perusal on the patient information board.
Capalaba Medical Centre is fully accredited with GPA.
CMC remains privately-owned and operated by the doctors who work at the medical centre. The staff of the practice have a commitment to providing a high standard of General Practice services.

About Bayside Medical Precinct

After the successful merge of the two Capalaba Medical Centre surgeries, it was envisioned to have a comprehensive ‘one stop’ medical location created for Capalaba and the Redland area.

In 2001, this came to fruition with the development of the ‘Bayside Medical Precinct’ (BMP) in 2001. This has become a vibrant hub for Medical services in Capalaba, with a central location at 189 Old Cleveland Rd, Capalaba. See my contact page for a map.
